The ship was the last battlecruiser to be completed for the Royal Navy and, as such, she was considered by the British public to be all that was finest in the British fleet and because of this her loss caused considerable shock. In actual fact she was grossly overloaded and in a poor material state at the time of her loss on 24th May 1941, sunk by gunfire from BISMARCK. ( Hull length 53.3/4"). Eight sheet plan:-
