Constructed in the 1950 from the yard Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson to Wallsen on Tyne, in 1964 it endured a great transformation in the yard Ateliers ET Chantiers de France and entered in service with the PROVENCE name. Subsequently acquired from the Company renamed Coast and with the name they puts into effect, came at first destined to the lines for the Center and South America with a transposed ability to to 188 passengers in class and 1044 in tourist and newly modified in 1979 for the crocieristico use in order to accommodate 800 passengers.
